Your baby's immediate environment

Your baby's immediate environmentIf you think about the amount of harmful chemicals in cigarettes what do you think is in the shirt that you are wearing now?

We are aware of the obvious dangers in our environment such as a hot oven or electric cables. There are other dangers which we have to be aware of if we want to make sure that our babies live safely.

Did you know that about ¼ of all global insecticides and 10% of pesticides are used in the conventional cultivation of cotton? Throughout the textile chain, from raw material to the finished product, no less than 8,000 different chemicals are used.

Babies suck their clothes, bedding, toys etc. and about 60% of what is put on their skin will be absorbed. Therefore, if textiles contain chemicals, through their skin, their sucking, higher breathing rate and high metabolism, they take in many chemicals. In addition, their detoxification system is not fully developed so the chemicals are likely to stay in their system causing long term damage which makes them a true victim of our environment.

But don’t panic! By buying organic cotton you help to eliminate this danger and it is certainly not as expensive as you might expect. In addition, this is an indirect protest against the use of harmful chemicals in the mass production of cotton and clothes.
